In March, the Royal House signed a joint venture agreement with MedGlobal, a NGO founded in 2017 by doctors experienced in emergency service to address the health needs of the most vulnerable across the world, whether impacted by natural disaster, displacement due to conflict, disease outbreak, poverty, or insufficient healthcare.
In April, doctors Dr. Zaher Sahloul and Dr. John Kahler the co-founders of MedGlobal were received by His Beatitude Krikor Bedros XX Gabroyan the Armenian Catholic Patriarch of Cilicia at the see of the patriarchate in Beirut, Lebanon. They were accompanied by part of the delegation of 25 doctors that compose the medical mission in Lebanon. The medical mission is partnered with the Royal House of Ghassan. Present to the patriarchal reception was HRH Prince Sheikh Selim El Chemor, the honorary head of the Royal House of Ghassan and HE Antoine Kalaydjian, the president and CEO of the One Voice Foundation. Mr. Kalaydjian personally supervised the medical mission in Lebanon being the liaison with political and religious authorities to facilitate the work of the doctors and volunteers.

The Royal House of Ghassan and Tyche-Fortuna Entertainment are proud to announce that the series of documentaries of the “One Voice for Christians” has reached twenty-five interviews! Politicians, religious leaders, scholars, activists, amongst other dignitaries, registered their experiences and opinions about the situation of Christianity in the Middle East. The interviews will be part of different documentaries including the most expected long length film “The Invisible People” about the ongoing persecution and exodus of Christians in the Middle East. The initiative is also supported by GH Giving Hands Charity (Germany) and IIRF – International Institute for Religious Freedom.
HRH Prince Gharios El Chemor has invested Mr. Michael Meunier with the rank of knight commander of the Equestrian Order of Michael Archangel. Mr. Meunier is a well known Coptic Christian political activist, founder of the Al Haya party in Egypt and successful businessman in the US. Mr. Meunier was also interviewed for the “One Voice for Christians” initiative.
Also in May, HRH Prince Gharios El Chemor met with Mr. Toufic Baaklini at the headquarters of IDC-In Defense of Christians in Washington DC. The heads of IDC and the Royal House of Ghassan decided to partner to fight the persecution of Christians in the Middle East. The prince has declared that many wonderful organizations around the world are working for the cause and all must be in harmony to make this work more efficient. He has also manifested the need of major actions and strategies in order to revert the nefarious scene in the region. IDC is one of the few organizations in the world completely independent of any special interests working very successfully influencing legislation and working with political and religious leaders in the US and internationally. The Royal House of Ghassan is also in favor of a completely non-partisan and ecumenical stand. Also, the interaction with major political international players is more than necessary for success. In that spirit, prince Gharios put all the Royal House’s resources, including the representation at the United Nations, at complete disposal of IDC. Mr. Baaklini has also concurred with a deep cooperation between both organizations. Prince Gharios El Chemor has honored Mr. Baaklini with the rank of Knight Commander of the Equestrian Order of Michael Archangel and Mr. Peter Burns, IDC’sGovernment Relations and Policies Director, with the rank of knight.
Many people don’t know that the Royal Succession in the Middle East is different than in Europe. Also, what the title “Sheikh” means. Learn the difference between “Noble Sheikh” and “Royal Sheikh”. By Professor Joseph Kechichian, PhD, the leading authority on Middle Eastern Royal succession in the world today. He has received his doctorate in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia in 1985, where he also taught (1986-1988), and assumed the assistant deanship in international studies (1988-1989). In the 1989, he was a Hoover Fellow at Stanford University (under the U.S. State Department Title VIII Program). Between 1990 and 1996, he labored at the Santa Monica-based RAND Corporation as an Associate Political Scientist and was a lecturer at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA). Served as diplomat, being Consul of the Sultanate of Oman in Los Angeles. Between 1998 and 2001, Dr Kechichianwas a fellow at UCLA’s Gustav E. von Grunebaum Center for Near Eastern Studies. Currently, is Senior Fellow at the King Faisal Research Center in Saudi Arabia.
In October, HRH Prince Gharios El Chemor met “The Imam of Peace” Mohammad Tawhidi in Beverly Hills. The Imam is a Shiia Muslim cleric and ferocious attacker of extremism.
Membership of the order is by invitation only, to practicing Catholic men and women—laity and clergy—of good character, minimum 25 years of age who have distinguished themselves in their professions and for the concern of the Christians of the Holy Land.
The honour of knighthood and any subsequent promotions are conferred by the Holy See— through diploma sealed and signed by the Assessor for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State in Rome as well as the Cardinal Grand Master — which approves each person, in the name of and by the authority of the Pope. The candidate is then knighted or promoted in a solemn ceremony with a cardinal or major prelate.
In November, HRH Prince Gharios El Chemor, a Brazilian citizen, was officially received by the Minister at his office at the Ministry in Brasília, the capital of Brazil.
The Brazilian Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation is the lieutenant-colonel Marcos Pontes. He’s a Brazilian Air Force pilot, engineer, AEBastronaut and author. He became the first South American and the first Lusophone to go into space when he docked onto the International Space Station aboard Soyuz TMA-8 on March 30, 2006. He is the only Brazilian to have completed the NASAastronaut training program.
During his trip to Brasília, the capital of Brazil, HRH Prince Gharios El Chemor has participated on the Holy Mass of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the King of the Universe at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Aparecida at the Federal Capital of Brazil, presided by His Eminence Dom Sergio Rocha the Cardinal Archbishop of Brasilia. After the mass, the prince visited the Cardinal and presented His Eminence with a DVD of the documentary “The Christian Kings of the Middle East“.
In November, another historical moment for the Ghassanids all over the world. After three long years of a very bureaucratic process, The Imperial and Royal House of Ghassan is officially recognized by the Lebanese Government. Two documents, one the decree signed by the judge from the ministry of interior, and by the Lebanese President and Head of State, the Imperial and Royal House of Ghassanis fully recognized with the consent of the Council of Ministers and the permission for an official branch in Lebanon is granted. The recognition is on the same level of the order of Malta and the Red Cross.
Important to note that very few non-reigning Royal Houses are officially acknowledged by the governments currently ruling their previous territories, for example, the Royal Houses of Portugal and Albania.
Saturday evening, the gala event at the prestigious Metropolitan Club, facing the Plaza Hotel and the Central Park. It was a great opportunity to establish friendship between the Houses of Savoy and Ghassan and to meet old and new friends.
